Karen Maria Capo began her career on Broadway at the age of 11 in the musical
DUDE by the authors of HAIR. She performed in various plays and cabarets until
she completed her studies at the prestigious School of Performing Arts in New York.
Subsequently, she moved West to pursue a career as a songwriter and vocalist in several
Los Angeles-area original bands, setting attendance records and performing in such
well-known venues as Club Lingerie, FM Station and The World Famous Palomino Club.
At the same time, Karen Maria had the pleasure of having a national release of
"Can I Come By Tonight?" for which she penned the lyrics. She is a member of
ASCAP and the Actors Equity Association.
While living in California, Karen Maria has appeared in concert with Al Jarreau,
Leif Garrett, Kirstie Alley and Frank Stallone. She has also performed in various venues
throughout South Florida, including the Fontainebleau Hilton in Miami Beach and Planet
Hollywood on South Beach.
Karen Maria has two CDs available: the first CD for her smooth jazz band,
Midnight Siren, entitled "Instead of Sleeping" along with a second CD, just
for dancers, entitled "Songs You Should Know," featuring her original tune
"I Can Lindy to That."
In the last 2 years she has performed at the Lindy Hop 411 Anniversary in Tampa, the House
of Blues in San Diego, the Austin Lindy Exchange, Emerald City Blues Festival in Seattle,
Red, White and Blues in Dallas, Midtown Stomp (Sacramento) with Solomon Douglas, SFLX, and
STLBX.
Karen Maria also had the sublime pleasure of joining Barbara Morrison onstage in
Florida, at California's Lindy Groove Christmas party, and Swingout Northwest.
She is proud to have second billing to Miss Morrison at the upcoming Sacramento
Lindy Exchange in March 2006!
Also during 2006 she is delighted to be be performing at Cheap Thrills in St.Louis
and best of all, in her new home town of Portland with her new band, Porkpie, at the
Portland Lindy Exchange!
